A late 15th century edition of de Voragine’s Legende Sanctorum, also known more commonly as the Golden Legend of the Passion of the Saints, a famed collection of 153 hagiographies (biography or life of a saint or ecclesiastical figure), widely read in Europe during the Late Middle Ages. This particular edition has been printed in a two-column format by Georg Husner.
The volume has been rubricated throuhgout with large red initials, and there are some scattered, contemporary annotations.
One vellum bound volume in small folio, 263 leaves
This volume is in fair shape, with rubbing and wear to the binding, and the upper spine strip of vellum lacking. There is damp staining throughout, growing progressively heavier from the second half of the text block onwards, with ancient mold spore damage to the top of the text block.
