A late 17th century edition of Rivière’s Pratique de Médecine avec Théorie, being a later French translation by Deboze, of his Praxis medica cum theoria series first published from 1640-1655. This is the first of two volumes, containing the first nine books, largely focusing on disease descriptions and treatments.
A French physician who made influential contributions to early modern medicine, Riviere specialized in pharmacology, anatomy, and surgery and was the first physician to describe aortic valve inflammation. He was a leading professor at the University of Montpellier and served as a physician to King Louis XIII.

This volume is in good shape, with rubbing and wear to the binding, and leather pieces lacking from the spine. There is foxing and staining throughout, with a few leaves shaken but holding firm.
