Title: Hiikkabokurin (Brush Blossoms and Ink Woods), Circa 1900-1940. Painting Album of Animals, Landscapes, and Objects, Twelve Double Paged Paintings
Author: Baba Ichiro, Ikeno Shunpo, Maeda Hodo, Nine Other Artists
Condition: Very Good
A Late Meiji to Early Showa Period, 20th century painting album, being a compilation by twelve painters, though they do not appear to be particularly well-known artists, since I can’t find too much background information on them. The paintings display different subjects, including landscapes, various objects, birds, and more. My favorite is a rather bleary-eyed raccoon.
The paintings have been finely bound in album format, with brocade decorated covers of greyish green and cloud patterns.
One painting album in quarto (24 x 18 cm), 15 leaves
This manuscript is in very good shape, with very little rubbing or wear to the binding. There is very little foxing or staining throughout.
