Title: De Vitiis Linguae, 1479
Author: Johannes Geuss; Albertanus Causidicus Brixiensis
Publisher: Nuremberg, Fratres Ordinis Eremitarum S. Augustini
Condition: Very Good
A scarce, late 15th century edition of Geuss’ Vitiations of the Language, without Brixiensis’ On the Art of Speaking and Keeping Silent.
This volume has been nicely rubricated throughout, with Lombard initials throughout.
The first leaf bears an ex-libris inscription of St. Peter's Monastery in Erfurt.
The last 10 leaves are lacking, with tipped in photocopy facsimiles. This would include the last two leaves of the main text, and the entirety of the additional text by Brixiensis.
ISTC records 23 existing copies in libraries.
One quarter vellum volume in quarto, 90 of 100 leaves
This volume is in very good shape, with rubbing and wear to the binding. The first three leaves have restoration work to the margins. There is very little foxing or staining throughout.
