An exquisitely hand painted and illuminated initial, cut from a medieval manuscript antiphonary, probably from the late 15th or early 16th century. The script to the cutting is written in a solid gothic script. The large illuminated green initial ‘S’ is nestled on a pink-red background, and bears a lovely, illuminated border on a blue-grey background
One illuminated manuscript on parchment, 23.5 x 16.5 cm leaf size, 7.5 x 6.5 cm initial size
This manuscript is in very good shape, with minor soiling, and some staining to the margins on the recto.
