A late 19th century, illuminated, calligraphic manuscript entitled Acts and Prayers for Communion, produced on thick paper, by an unknown illuminator. The manuscript was commissioned for one Marguerite Mourret, with a date of 1897 to the front inner pastedown. There is also a tipped in, dedication card of sorts on vellum, inscribed and illuminated on hand, with the date of May 16, 1897.
Each page has been richly handwritten and illuminated with illuminated initials, golden letters, and ornate initials in general, written in a 13-line format. Every single leaf is further enhanced with a different illuminated and painted border, each distinctly unique and vibrant from each other, with a few animals and figures in the borders. There are two full page miniatures, displaying various scenes of communion.
One finely bound manuscript in octavo, 18 leaves
This manuscript is in very good shape, with very little rubbing or wear to the binding. Some of the gold illumination has oxidized. There is some scattered foxing throughout.
