A Late Edo Period, early 19th century manuscript sketchbook, being a literati artist’s selection of sumptuous ink wash drawings.
The sketchbook is a veritable trove of art, with 56 full pages of detailed ink wash drawings, some being double page examples, while in other cases, a single page can have several different illustrations taking up every gap of free space. There are a few color drawings, and quite a few pages of detailed birds, and ornithology notes.
One disbound manuscript in folio (25.7 x 18 cm), 30 leaves
This manuscript’s binding is in poor shape, the binding being detached from the main text block, and some gatherings being undone. There is some soiling to the margins
