One of the earliest and most important missionaries in the American West, Father Pierre-Jean de Smet wrote a detailed account of his experiences in the Northwest, publishing his chronicle in 1847.
This edition is bound in a richly decorated and ornate cartonnage binding of the period, with gilt against green. There is a lithograph central panel present.

On note of condition, this volume is in very good shape, with minor rubbing and wear to the binding, and a slight crease to the rear board. There is light foxing throughout.
