A late 17th century first edition of Burnet’s Memoires of the Lives and Actions of James and William, Dukes of Hamilton and Castleherald. There are two engraved portraits, and a half page engraving of Charles I. The engraved frontispiece has been mounted as a repair.

The volume bears the bookplate of Professor Gerald E. Aylmer FBA (1926-2000), historian of 17th-century England and master of St Peter’s College, Oxford.

This volume is in good shape, with rubbing and wear to the binding, chipping to the head and foot of the spine, and cracked hinges. There is some foxing and staining throughout.
