A late 19th century edition of the Holy Bible, Containing the Old and New Testaments.
This volume is in hand-embroidered binding, with silk threads of pink, blue, green, white, and gold metalwork threads against a gold silk ground. To the spine are stitched raised bands, with the title and date of binding in the first and last compartments. The front cover displays floral arabesque designs, including 2 6-petalled flowers with raised metal stiches, with pearl beads at the center. The rear cover has a large tulip at the center in between flower stems which utilize the same metal stitching as mentioned before. The Green maxim Nosce Te Ipsum, or Know Thyself, is at the top, and the initials F.S. is at the bottom.

On note of condition, this volume is in very good shape, with light rubbing to the binding. Two lines of the metalwork stitching to the rear cover have loosened, and three lines of metalwork stitching to the outer borders of the boards are lacking. There is very little foxing throughout.
