Author: Guido Bentivoglio
Publisher: D. Newman, London
Condition: Very Good
A scarce second edition of Earl Henry's English translation of Cardinal's Bentivoglio's account of the War of Flanders, otherwise known as the Dutch Revolt, which was technically a part of the Eighty Years War. It was this war against the Spanish Empire which resulted in one of the Treaties of Westphalia and the independence of the Dutch Republic.
One Volume in Folio, 387+56 pages + unnumbered index
Although the portraits are present, this copy is lacking the large fold out map of the Netherlands. Several plates also appear to be loosely tipped over each other, with other plate spaces being blank.
On note of condition, this edition has been rebound in an astoundingly clean full calf, with very little wear at the corners. There is little to no foxing present as well.
