A first edition of Rolleston's translation of Tannhauser, richly illustrated by Willy Pogany, with a gilt engraved cover. One of Pogany's great illustrated masterpieces, this was part of the trilogy of works based on Wagner's Germanic tales.
This edition of Wagner's work is profusely illustrated with monotone lithographs by Pogany, with 16 tipped in color plates.
One volume in folio, 113 unnumbered leaves. Printed on a heavy grey stock paper.
On note of condition, this copy is in fair condition, with the covers bearing some staining and the spine displaying minor wear, and a small scuff on the front. The back cover also shows a failed attempt at restoring some scuffing that was incurred.
The gilt decoration is still bright on the front, and the book is protected by a layer of mylar.
