Title: Sermons du Pere Bourdaloue, 1723
Author: Louis Bourdaloue; Francois de Paule Bretonneau
Publisher: A Paris, Chez Rigaud
An early 18th century edition of the sermons French Jesuit and preacher Louis Bourdaloue, being the second volume.
This volume contains the large armorial binding of the College Royal de Renn, with the large crest displayed on both covers. Uniquely, the present binding on the spine appears to be a second layer clumsily bound on top of the already existing work, which can be seen by the peeling noted at the head of the spine. Presumably, it could also be a poorly done reback as well.
One finely bound volume in 12mo, (4)+554+(30)
On note of condition, this volume is in good shape, with wear and rubbing to the boards, and the main layer of the binding peeling from the head of the spine. There is heavy foxing and staining throughout, more heavily near the end.
