Title: Sancti Thomae Aquinatis Theologicae Summae Compendium, 1619
Author: Thomas Aquinas; Pedro Alagón; Horace Cardon
Publisher: Lugduni, Sumptibus Horatii Cardon
A scarce and unique early 17th century pocket edition of Thomas Aquinas’s Compendium Theologiae, being a condensed abridgement of his Summa Theologica, the unfinished masterpiece of theological works. This was produced towards the end of his life, being intended as an introductory handbook for those scholars and students of religion who did not have access to the full text. In this sense, it remains the best introductory work to Aquinas’s thoughts and mechanisms, as well as serving to be a laser focused reiteration of many of his ideas.
