Author: Joannes Soteallus; Horatius Lucius
Publisher: Antverpiae, Apud Hieronymum Verdussen
Condition: Good

An early 18th century account of The Council of Trent, originally held between 1545 and 1563 in Trent. It was the 19th ecumenical council of the Catholic Church. Prompted by the Protestant Reformation, it has been described as the embodiment of the Counter-Reformation.

There are three full page engravings of Popes Paul III, Julius III and Pius IV, with an ex libri inscription on the front cover and endpaper.

One finely bound volume in 12mo, 569 pages

On note of condition, this volume is in good shape, with some wear and rubbing noted at the corners and edges, along with chipping at the head of the spine. There is worming noted at the right margins up to page 96. There is virtually no foxing and staining throughout.
