Title: 's Werelts begin, midden, eynde, beslooten in den trou-ring, met den proef-steen. Van den zelven, 18th Century
Author: Jacob Cats
Condition: Very Good
An undated 18th century edition of Cat’s’ emblematic work The beginning of the world, in the middle, end, closed in the wedding ring, with the trial stone. Of oneself.
This work is illustrated throughout with charming copperplate illustrations, some based around family and marriage, and others being of a more religious or mythological nature.
One vellum bound volume in 12mo, 1-4 supplemented from another edition, 5-673 pages
On note of condition, this volume is lacking the first four original pages and main title page, with the numbered leaves supplemented from another edition. The book bears minimal wear and rubbing to the binding, and staining to the covers. The text block is shaken, with one gathering slightly loosened, though holding. There is minor foxing and staining throughout, though heavier on several pages, and toning to some of the margins. In very good shape otherwise.
