Title: Pratique de la memoire artificielle: pour apprendre & pour retenir l'histoire & la chronologie universelle, bound with Nouvelle Edition de La Pratique de la Memoire, 1708
Author: Claude Buffier
Publisher: A Paris, Chez Nicolas Le Clerc
An early 18th century edition of Buffier’s Practice of Artificial Memory, to learn & to remember history & universal chronology, bound with the new and revised 18th century edition of his work on the practice of memory.
There are at least 19 genealogical trees for the various royal houses, nobility, mythological leaders, and saints over the centuries, from the kings of the Hebrew Hasmonean Dynasty, the Achaemenid Empire, The House of Bourbon, and more.
There are two ex libris signatures present.
While the main title page reads a date of 1608, this is likely a printing error.
Two volumes finely bound into one 12mo, (16)+473+(7), 138+(4)+41 pages, with 7 pages of genealogical trees in the first book along with several tables, and 12 trees in the second book.
On note of condition, this volume is in good shape, with heavy wear and chipping noted at the top two corners, some stress at the joints, and minor chipping to the top part of the spine. There is some foxing and staining noted throughout.
