Title: Notarial Manuscript for Claire des Cordes and Thomas des Cordes, Manuscript on Parchment, 1549
A mid 16th century manuscript acknowledgement of debt, written on parchment, in the year 1549, and written on a recycled manuscript. Not quite a palimpsest, but more accurately, a document written on a piece of parchment most likely cut from the folio of an earlier medieval manuscript, roughly 14th century. Remnants of the initial work from the manuscript are still present in red and blue.
The document itself is the acknowledgement of debt for the purchase of an asset. The named parties are Claire des Cordes and Thomas des Cordes.
One manuscript on parchment, 22 by 8 cm
On note of condition, this manuscript is in good shape, with wear causing the parchment to become limp, and a very small closed tear to the right side, though not obscuring text. The script itself is still very legible.
