Condition: Very Good
An early 20th century manuscript Missale Romanum, illuminated and written by hand, and vibrantly brought to life with numerous watercolors signed by several different artists, including Maurice Abbadie, J. Laurenti, and B. Aubert. Some have been signed by their respective artists, and several noted with dates ranging from 1924 to 1930, indicating that this Missale truly was a several year undertaking.
The entire manuscript has been entirely illuminated with polychrome designs and watercolors, with floral and unique geometric motifs, unique to every page. There is a massive quantity of watercolor illustrations throughout, many accentuated with gilt. The calligraphy has been done in black and red ink, with pages mounted on tabs.
The volume has been bound in a shagreen binding, with red calico covers, metal spandrels, and a ribbed spine. There are eight embroidered silk bookmarks.
One illuminated manuscript in folio, 405 leaves
This manuscript is in very good shape, with some rubbing and wear to the binding, especially to the spine. The illumination has lightly worn down in some places. Five leaves have been torn, with restorations. There are several other smaller, closed tears. Some of the page edges are worn.
