A signed first edition of the Historical Memoirs of Stephanie-Louise de Boubon-Conti, who claimed to be the illegitimate lovechild to Louis Francois, Prince of Conti, and Louise-Jeanne de Durfot, duchess of Mazarin. While never openly confirmed, she nonetheless received a pension from Louis XVI in 1788, additionally receiving permissions from the revolutionary tribunal to visit Marie-Therese Charlotte of France in 1795, the only surviving child of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. The memoir begins with her childhood under Louis XV’s reign and ending with the French revolution. There are several interested anecdotes and obscure details in history. De Bourbon-Conti’s ink signature is facing across from the title page.

On note of condition, this volume is in fair shape, with wear and rubbing on the boards, with heavy wear and softening at the corners. There is heavy joint wear and some chipping at the spine. There is little to no foxing or staining throughout.
