A mid 13th century leaf from a Latin Bible produced in England, circa 1260 AD. This leaf was written on parchment in black ink, with an early Gothic font in two columns from both the front and back side. There is a Lombard style rubricated spring plant initial in blue, with and extensively decorated vine and spring work in red.
One parchment leaf in octavo, 19.5 x 14 cm, 44 lines of text per side
This leaf is in very good shape, with some staining to the leaf, and a closed tear to the inner margin. There is some rippling to the leaf.
