Pluche was a French priest, best-known for this work. His Spectacle de la Nature was first published in 1732 and was the subject of numerous translations throughout Europe due to its popularity. Although it influenced many to become naturalists and for this particular volume, explore the wonder of botany, it was a work meant to popularize these subjects, and spread awareness.
