A mid 19th century edition of Hans Holbein's Dance of Death Alphabet, based upon the originally 16th century woodcuts.
This volume is illustrated profusely throughout, with incredibly detailed scenes depicted in each letter, and large macabre frames featuring Death and its victims, in the style of the 16th century. The primary work is followed by poems on the Tale of the Three Dead and the Three Vives.
One volume in octavo, 95 pages
One note of condition, this volume is in good shape. The library accession number is present at the foot of the spine, as well as the perforated name of the university being present on the title page. There is minor staining on the covers, with little to no foxing or staining throughout.
