An extremely scarce annotated edition of Emperor Justinian's Institutes, being his sixth-century codification of Roman Law. Included is the commentary of the Florentine lawyer Silvestro Aldobrandini. This edition is written in red and black, with a large full-page woodcut tree. Each section begins with a woodcut header.
This volume is annotated throughout by an early hand, with handwritten manicules and underlining as well.
