A charming early 19th century German manuscript book of prayer, entitled the Prayer book of a Catholic Christian written sometime during the early 19th century.
The text is written in a flowing hand, using black ink, in Kurrent script, with large, ornate initials throughout in a Fraktur script, and every page is bordered with hand colored, decorative frames. There are also 21 hand-colored floral vignettes of varying designs as well.
Of the original author Scholz, little is known, although it is interesting to note that he resided in what is now modern Linhartovy, Czechia. The last page details various family inscriptions, the oldest recording the birth of one Marianne Lang in 1806.
There is a bookplate for one Mrs. Landa.

This manuscript is in fair shape, with heavy rubbing and wear to the binding, the hinges cracked and repaired. The title page has undertaken some restoration work. There is staining throughout, heavier at the beginning and end.
