Title: Florentine Sonnets, 1911
Author: William Leighton
Publisher: Giulio Giannini & Sons Publishers
Condition: Very Good
An early 20th century edition of Leighton’s Florentine Sonnets, published and bound by the famous workshop of Giulio Giannini. This work is bound in a Florentine style binding, with a hand-painted design of a gryphon to the cover, holding a shield with the coat-of-arms of Florence. There are 21 sepia toned photos of various Florentine scenes and sculptures, each corresponding to the matching sonnet Leighton has written.
One hand-painted vellum bound volume in 12mo, unpaginated
On note of condition, this volume is in very good shape, with little rubbing or wear to the binding, one leather tie lacking, and the top decorative ornament lacking from the front and rear covers. The entire text block is shaky to the binding, though holds well. There is minor foxing throughout.
