A late 17th century edition of Nicole’s Selected Epigrams From All, both ancient and modern poets. With a dissertation on true beauty and sketchy, in which epigrams are rendered from certain principles of rejection and choice. Elegant sentences have been added sparingly from the ancient poets but selected by a more severe judgment, with shorter sentences or proverbs from the Greek and Latin authors. To which in this fourth edition is added another selected specimen, omitted by the electors from among the most recent poets. There is one plate depicting a coat of arms.
One vellum bound volume in 32mo, (56)+429+(3)+28+(10) pages
On note of condition, this volume is in very good shape, with minor rubbing and standing to the binding. There is minor staining throughout.
