A mid 16th century edition of Gropper’s Enchiridion Christianae Institutionis In Concilio Provinciali, being the Enchiridion of the Christian for the province of Cologne, published by the Council, and containing the work of the worshipers and all the followers of true piety.

The reader learns of the Seven Sacraments, as well of the nature of humanity, and the way one prays to god, with an added exposition of the Lords Prayer. Not only that, but the nature of discrimination is explained, as well of the practices of force and law, with an added explanation of the Ten Commandments.

Following after the main text are two additional books on the formation and shortcuts that the provincial council itself can promise, along with the reformation of the clergy in regard to the life and manners of German society.

There is one full page woodcut depicting The Crucifixion, as well as several smaller woodcut initials throughout.

On note of condition, this volume is in poor shape, with the boards being detached. There is minor foxing and staining throughout, with minor dampstaining present at the bottom section through 30 or so leaves.
