Title: De re Medica, Libri Octo, 1566
Author: Aulus Cornelius Celsus
Publisher: Lugduni, Apud Guliel. Roullium
Condition: Very Good

A mid 16th century edition of Celsus' de Medicina, being the first edition edited by R. Constantinus.
The work focuses on the same tripartite division of medicine at the time as established by Hippocrates and Asclepiades, being diet, pharmacology, and surgery. It also covers the topics of disease and therapy. Sections detail the removal of missile weapons, stopping bleeding, preventing inflammation, diagnosis of internal maladies, removal of kidney stones, the amputation of limbs and more.
After the Hippocratic writings, Celsus' de Medicina is among the oldest medical textbooks, originally written about 30 A.D, and one of the earliest medical books to be printed in 1478.
There are several woodcut initials throughout the volume, with early notation in the marginalia.

One quarter vellum volume in 8vo, 499 pages

On note of condition, the binding is in very good shape, with very little wear or rubbing to the boards. There is minor foxing throughout.
