Author: Cornelius Jansen
Publisher: Georgium Iosse, Parisiis
A late 17th century edition of Cornelius Jansen's Tetrateuchus, or Commentary on the Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jansen was author of the controversial posthumous work Augustinus, which was condemned as heretical in the apostolic constitution by Pope Innocent. Following his death, Jansen's work inspired the theological Jansenism movement , primarily based in France, which emphasized original sin, human depravity, the necessity of divine grace, and predestination.
This particular work is an exegetical commentary of the four canonical Gospels, additionally featuring a critical interpretation of the Tetrateuch, being Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers.
