Title: Carta De Hidalguia. Manuscript Patent of Nobility for Unknown Petitioner in Toledo, 16th Century
A late 16th century carta de hidalguia manuscript, or patent of nobility for an unknown petitioner, granted in Toledo in May 14th, during some part of the 16th century. As the manuscript is damaged in some places, it is difficult to discern the name of the petitioner, or the exact date of writ.
This manuscript presents calligraphy of the 16th century, written in a gothic script, indicating possible mid 16th century writ. The original multicolored cord that would hold a seal is still present.
One manuscript in folio, 18 leaves on parchment
On note of condition, this manuscript is in poor shape, with staining throughout, and noticeable staining and damage to the first two and last leaves. The first leaf is also loosening, and severely worn to the right side, with some of the text being lost. The pages are warped at the lower left section.
