Title: C. Plinii Secundi Historiae mundi libri XXXVII, 1601. Tomus Primus and Tertius
Author: Caius Plinius Secundus; Sigismundus Gelen; Justus Lipsius
Publisher: Geneva, Apud Iacobum Stoer
Condition: Very Good

An early 17th century edition of Pliny’s Natural History, by the Geneva book printer Sigismund Gelenius, chastised with the utmost fidelity. Various readings are added, from Pintian, Turnebius, Lipsius, and other learned men.

The largest single work to have survived from the Roman Empire to the modern day, the Natural History compiles information gleaned from other ancient authors. These are the first and third volumes of three. Pages 417 to 448 from the first volume are lacking, with blanks inserted.

Two pigskin bound volumes in 32mo, 648+(126), 544+(Uncollated Index) pages

These volumes are in very good shape, with minor rubbing and staining to the binding. There is light worming to the first and last pages, with minor text loss to the last 3 index pages of the first volume
