A late 15th century edition of Octavianus Scotus Latin Bible, in a lovely quarto format. This particular edition of the Bible includes prologues to each book by St. Jerome.
There is a massive 17-line rubricated initial in red and blue, as well as some rubricated 3–5-line initials in red and later black examples.
This edition is scarce at market, with no example sold at auction since 2013.
The blank leaf a1 is lacking, as is leaf d7 from Leviticus, and the Hebrew Interpretations comprising of leaves 423 to 460. Save for the one leaf from Leviticus, the main Biblical text is otherwise complete.
One finely bound volume in quarto, 422 of 460 leaves
This volume is in good shape, with minor rubbing and wear to the binding. The first text leaf and two blanks at the front are partially loosened, with a bit of damage to the first leaf. The binding itself is somewhat wobbly, as the text block is no longer fully holding to the spine. There is a bit of worming to the lower margins of the first handful of leaves, and some general soiling and staining throughout, more so to the margins.
