Title: Aventures et Conquetes de Fernand Cortez au Mexique, 1850
Author: Henri Lebrun
Publisher: Tours, Ad Mame et Cie
Condition: Very Good

A mid 19th century edition of Lebrun’s Adventures and conquests of Fernand Cortez in Mexico. Cortez was the Spanish conquistador who led an expedition leading to the fall of the Aztec Empire and brought large portions of what is now mainland Mexico under the rule of the King of Castile in the early 16th century. Cortes was part of the generation of Spanish explorers and conquistadors who began the first phase of the Spanish colonization of the Americas.

There are two plates of illustration.

This edition is bound in a richly decorated and ornate cartonnage binding of the period, with gilt against green. There is a lithograph central panel.

One finely decorated cartonnage volume in 12mo, 284 pages

On note of condition this volume is in very good shape, with some rubbing and wear to the binding, and the lower front hinge starting to crack. The central panel is rippled. There is some foxing and toning throughout.
