A mid 19th century edition of Lebrun’s Adventures and conquests of Fernand Cortez in Mexico. Cortez was the Spanish conquistador who led an expedition leading to the fall of the Aztec Empire and brought large portions of what is now mainland Mexico under the rule of the King of Castile in the early 16th century. Cortés was part of the generation of Spanish explorers and conquistadors who began the first phase of the Spanish colonization of the Americas.
This edition is bound in a richly decorated and ornate cartonnage binding of the period, adorned with golden gilt among a jet black binding.

On note of condition this volume is in very good shape, with minor rubbing and wear to the spine. The binding is in excellent shape otherwise, with the gilt decoration shining brightly. There is little to no foxing or staining throughout.
