An early 20th century illuminated manuscript Missal, produced as a gift for a Denis Martial, in memory of his first communion, May 26, 1929
Each page has been richly handwritten and illuminated with around 95 illuminated initials, golden letters, and initials in the form of various creatures, all accentuated with gold leaf, with up to 21 lines per page. Every single leaf is further enhanced with a different illuminated and painted border, each distinctly unique and vibrant from each other. There are nine detailed miniatures, including a full-page miniature of The Annunciation.
This Book of Hours has been divided into several parts, with one for the Ordinare of the Mass, Prayers of the Holy Mass, the Prayer for Communion, after Communion, the Wedding Mass, numerous psalms, and more.
This volume has been extravagantly bound and signed by M. Albinhac, in a beautifully tooled leather binding, with flowing gilt against black and red. The manuscript bears beautiful doublures, and bearing a monogram D.M.
Various family member signatures can be seen, with names for Denis Martial, and others.

On note of condition, this volume is in very good shape, with very little rubbing or wear to the binding. There is virtually no foxing throughout, though the pages have toned yellow, with light staining to several pages.
