An extremely scarce late 19th century edition of the Life of Saint Teresa of Avila, according to Spanish authors and contemporary historians.
Commonly known as Saint Teresa of Jesus, she was a Spanish noblewoman-turned nun, mystic, reformer, and theologian. Canonized after her death, she was also declared a Doctor of the Church, centuries late by Pope Paul VI.

This edition is bound in a richly decorated and ornate cartonnage binding of the period, with gilt against pink and white. There is a central lithograph panel.
